Senate Bill 3 has passed out of the Senate State Affairs Committee and is on its way to the house floor.
It seeks to ban all consumable hemp-derived THC products, including Delta-8 and Delta-9, stripping Texans of their right to make personal choices about cannabis. The Libertarian Party of Texas stands firmly against this blatant government overreach.

Legislative Action Day at the Texas Capitol: Advocating for Fair Ballot Access
Posted by Anastasia Wilford · January 28, 2025 9:26 PM
Join us for an exciting and impactful Legislative Action Day at the Texas Capitol, where our Legislative Coordinator, Kevin Hale, and other staff, will come together to guide volunteers as we advocate for improved ballot access laws for third parties in Texas.
This special event is designed to empower volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to engage effectively with their legislators’ offices. Participants will learn about the legislative process, and how to schedule and conduct productive meetings with lawmakers.
Our team will provide hands-on guidance, with the goal that volunteers will feel confident and prepared as they visit their legislators' offices to discuss the inequitable barriers third party candidates face with trying to access the ballot in Texas—and to push for reforms that will allow more voices and choices in our elections.
In Texas, third parties and independent candidates must pay a filing fee to the State of Texas when legacy party candidates' filing fees are paid directly to the party whose nomination they're seeking, or submit petitions with onerous requirements.
Whether you're a seasoned advocate or new to political engagement, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and make a difference. Together, we can work toward a more inclusive electoral system in Texas!
If you’d like to join us at the Capitol, you can RSVP here.
