Reject SB 5

Posted by · July 22, 2025

The Texas Senate is considering SB 5, another dangerous bill that would criminalize peaceful activity and destroy the hemp industry in our state.

SB 5:

  • Bans all hemp-derived cannabinoids except CBD and CBG—even for responsible adult use.

  • Imposes outrageous licensing and registration fees ($10,000–$20,000 per location) that will crush small businesses.

  • Creates new criminal penalties for simple possession of legal products.

  • Violates bodily autonomy, property rights, and economic liberty.

This bill is a direct attack on the principles of self-ownership and free markets and is no better than SB 3 that they passed in the regular session. The state has no business restricting voluntary choices that harm no one.

Contact the Senate State Affairs Committee using the action button on this page and demand they reject SB 5.

Additionally, if you are a constituent of the members of the Senate State Affairs Committee, we ask you to contact your representative and tell them you're a constituent who wants them to oppose SB 5. Find out what district you're in here.
