Pass HB 4309 & Get A Hearing For SB 2197

Posted by · May 12, 2025

HB 4309 & SB 2197 help level the playing field by amending election code so that candidates seeking nomination by convention (typically used by non-primary parties like the Libertarian Party) can submit their filing fee or petition directly to their party’s chair, not a judge or state agency.

Step 1:

HB 4309 is expected to receive a vote in the House late in the day late in the day on Monday, May 12. We need you to call your Rep and ask them to vote yes. If they don't know how they'll vote or plan to vote no, you can email [email protected] or text 972-885-8832 so he can swing by their office and flip them to a yes.

Contact your Rep using our template email here. If it says their info is private, you can get their info here.

Step 2:

Call and email Senator Hughes' office to ask for a hearing for SB 2197. As the chair of the Senate State Affairs Committee, he is the only one who can schedule a hearing for our bill, so it doesn't matter if you're a constituent or not, he needs to hear from you here.

Thanks for your help getting this critical bill passed and for being part of LPTexas history!
