Demand A Hearing For HB 4309

Level the Playing Field for Libertarian Candidates
The filing fee fix that we've been working so diligently on, SB 2197 and HB 4309, has now not only been referred to the Senate State Affairs committee, but has also been referred to the House Elections Committee. This bill stands to be a game-changer for equitable ballot access, but now it's time to make your voices heard to keep this bill moving!
HB 4309 allows convention-nominated candidates to pay filing fees to their own party instead of the State of Texas—just like primary-nominated candidates already do. This means Libertarian candidates could keep their campaign dollars within the party, helping grow our movement and support more voices for liberty.
Since the state began imposing filing fees on third-party candidates, we’ve lost dozens of potential candidates. We've been trying for years to repeal those fees but in case we can't make that happen, HB 4309 would at least put our candidates on the same playing field as the rest of the candidates on the ballot giving Libertarians a fighting chance.
